Singer and songwriter John Denver touched millions of people and reached superstar status by his folk-inspired pop hits many of them based in Colorado. Henry John Deutschendorf Jr. is a New Mexican born artist and songwriter who fell in love with Colorado. Denver's anthems for his adopted state has drawn a lot of people to Colorado. G. Brown the curator of the Colorado Music Hall of Fame said that John Denver was by far one of the top artists who represented Colorado. Denver was the first Hall of Fame ever inductee. Denver is today the international face of Colorado. When I travel, I always encounter someone on the other end of the planet, one who is from New Zealand and you say 'I'm of Colorado and the first thing they say is Oh John Denver! Brown stated. Denver's debut Top 10 hit as a solo artist after a short period of performing with small folk music group included Take Me Home Country Roads co-written with Bill Danoff. Danoff wrote the tune inspired by Johnny Cash, but Denver could hear an early version of the song and realized it would become a top 10 hit. He recorded it a couple of days after performing in Washington D.C. before an audience that was very enthusiastic.
